John McCarthy

Strategic Advisor & Founders’ Ally

As a seasoned technology executive, founder, and program leader, John McCarthy brings over 40 years of technical, operational, and leadership experience to his role at The Advisors Advantage™. His career spans the dawn of Silicon Valley, the rise of aerospace defense systems, and the launch of multiple ventures, all grounded in a deep commitment to people, purpose, and precision.

John’s role at The Advisors Advantage™ is to offer what he calls “earned perspective.” He supports high-performing financial advisors by helping them evaluate and realign their business operations, rediscover their sense of purpose, and build with clarity and intention.

Known for his reflective leadership style and understated wit, John is often described as a mentor who listens first and speaks with purpose. He has a rare ability to translate complex systems into simple insights, drawing from his decades of managing large-scale programs across Asia, Alaska, and the U.S., as well as co-founding companies during the .com boom.

John is not just a strategic advisor—he’s a builder of people. His approach is thoughtful, practical, and grounded in a belief that leadership is service, not status.

Now based in Idaho, John supports founders and advisors who are navigating their next chapter—whether that’s scaling with intention, transitioning from chaos to clarity, or rediscovering the mission behind their success.

Retired in theory, but not in practice, John is energized by helping others build lasting businesses rooted in values, not just volume.
